Queensland Tourism Awards 2012

At a gala event in our states' capital on Friday November 24th the winners of the 2012 Queensland Tourism Awards were announced.

These prestigious awards  have been running for more than 25 years and provide a platform on which to showcase the very best of the Queensland Tourism Industry.

Once again, the Sunshine Coast has taken top honours in  several of the  categories and will now move on to represent Queensland in the Australian Tourism Awards.

 We congratulate all winners and finalists with extra accolades going to the following, all of whom are either Sunshine Coast based or business associates of Sunshine Coast Brochure Display:

 

Winners

 

  • Noosa Visitor Information Centre: Visitor Information and Services. A huge pat on the back for the               Tourism Noosa Team  and also the 95 volunteers who deal with over 200,000 face-to-face enquiries each year. In the words of Tourism Noosa GM Damien Massingham "this award for our VIC highlights that a true partnership between industry and a tourism organization with a proactive team working with passionate volunteers produces results, even in the toughest of times."
  •  Australia Zoo:  Major Tourist Attractions. A great result for the Irwin family as they continue to build on Steve's' dream
  •  The Workshops Rail Museum:  Tourist Attractions. Since opening in 2002, this attraction has been either a winner or finalist in the Queensland Tourism Awards since  2004.  They were also Australian Tourism Awards winners in 2007 and 2010  in the "Heritage and Cultural Tourism" category.
  •  The Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat: Hosted Accommodation. Another great result for Mark and Joanne who  were finalists in this category in 2009 and 2010 and winners in 2011.
  •  Garth Prowd OAM: The Marie Watson-Blake Award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual. Well deserved recognition for  the USM Events founder who has made an invaluable contribution to tourism in the Noosa area through his involvement in major events such as the Noosa Jazz Festival and the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival
